Orange Poppy and Leucospermum
Orange poppy, Papaver, in the Papaveraceae family. First of all, the flower has two sepals protecting the bud. The bud opens to reveal four, or up to six petals. Petals appear in red, pink, orange, yellow or lilac. Hippocrates was one of the first to to emphasise the medicinal uses of the poppy. Most noteworthy, mainly used to promote sleep and to relieve indigestion and respiratory problems.
Leucospermum, a genus of about 50 species of flowering plants in the family Proceaceaea. Native to Zimbabwe and South Africa. Leucospermum cordifolium or Red Pincushion Protea is native to South Africa.
